Tile Box with Abstract Discs Lid
Don Drumm is known for bringing the well received, mid-century brutalist style into people’s homes and lives with everyday objects for decades. This pewter box is designed and hand crafted by Don. You'll find Don's signature on the underside of each lid. Additionally, each of these boxes comes with a "Certificate of Authenticity" that Don personally signed.
This box is from the abstract collection Don designed. The lid for this collection has a distinctive design of four roundels - each with a different abstract pattern of wavy lines and concentric circles.
One specific design element you’ll find in each box is the interior base tile. In this pewter box, the interior, central, base you will find abstract zig-zags, very reminiscent of early Don Drumm designs. The first side on the exterior consists of rectangles, a circle, and various shapes of rhombus. Each has different lines and shapes included in them and imbibes both visual and tactile interest. The next side has a small, bold, Don Drumm sun that is framed on two sides with a simple straight line. The other sides of the framing for this sun include thin, wavy lines and are punctuated with circles. Following this, you will find five small seashells placed as if they were the “five” side of dice. For the last side, the design starts with a miniature version that is similar to many of Don’s larger abstract pieces.
