Tile Box with Cross Lid
Don Drumm is known for bringing the well-received, mid-century brutalist style into people’s homes and lives with everyday objects for decades. This pewter box is designed and hand-crafted by Don. You'll find Don's signature on the underside of each lid. Additionally, each of these boxes comes with a "Certificate of Authenticity" that Don personally signed.
This box is from the Christian collection Don designed. The lid for this collection has a symbol that represents “Jesus Christ Conquers.” Across the top of the Greek Cross is the Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ and across the base is the word “Nika” that translates to “conquers.”
One specific design element you’ll find in each box is the interior base tile. In this pewter box, the interior, central, base consists of an abstract design with ropey, curving lines over a lightly textured base. There is a circle that stands out against the background. The first exterior side, of this design consists of an Orthodox Cross and the symbols Alpha and Omega. On the second side, there is a Rho with a cross. For the third side, there is a more minimal version of the lid tile. This pewter box finishes its design with a Rho and a Chi symbol. This Rho-Chi symbol is one of the earliest Christian monograms.
