Tile Box with Cross Lid

$328

Don Drumm is known for bringing the well-received, mid-century brutalist style into people’s homes and lives with everyday objects for decades. This pewter box is designed and hand-crafted by Don. You'll find Don's signature on the underside of each lid. Additionally, each of these boxes comes with a "Certificate of Authenticity" that Don personally signed.

This box is from the Christian collection Don designed. The lid for this collection has a symbol that represents “Jesus Christ Conquers.” Across the top of the Greek Cross is the Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ and across the base is the word “Nika” that translates to “conquers.”

One specific design element you’ll find in each box is the interior base tile. In this pewter box, the interior, central, base consists of a single, lightly textured circle. On the first exterior side, there is a design that includes a fish and loaves of bread. The second side of this box is a symbol of the all-seeing eye which looks out from the triangle of the Trinity. Following this on the third side, this design represents the Chi and Rho within a circle. This represents the eternal existence of the Lord. The final side design is of an anchor and two fish. This symbol was used by early, underground Christians to identify one another. The anchor represents the cross and the fish, that of Jesus.
