Tile Box with Star of David Lid

Don Drumm is known for bringing the well-received, mid-century brutalist style into people’s homes and lives with everyday objects for decades. This pewter box is designed and hand-crafted by Don. You'll find Don's signature on the underside of each lid. Additionally, each of these boxes comes with a "Certificate of Authenticity" that Don personally signed.

This box is from the Judaica collection Don designed. The lid for this collection has a Star of David that is designed in such a way that it appears as if it were hewn from stone.

One specific design element you’ll find in each box is the interior base tile. In this pewter box, the interior, central, base consists of geometric zig-zag lines and a square design. On the first exterior side, is the 21st letter in the Hebrew alphabet, “shin.” It is the first letter in the name of God (Shaddai) which translates to “Almighty.” However, this letter can have different meanings. On the following side, is the Hebrew word “tz'dakah” which translates to “charity” in English. On the third side, there is a Star of David. The fourth side of this box depicts a seven-branched menorah that is lit.
