Tile Box with Sun Lid

Don Drumm is known for bringing the well received, mid-century brutalist style into people’s homes and lives with everyday objects for decades. This pewter box is designed and hand crafted by Don. You'll find Don's signature on the underside of each lid. Additionally, each of these boxes comes with a "Certificate of Authenticity" that Don personally signed.

This box is from the Sun face collection Don designed. Boxes in this collection have the signature Don Drumm sun face with expressive eyes, distinctive nose, and a gentle smile.

One specific design element you’ll find in each box is the interior base tile. In this pewter box, the interior, central, base consists of four stars. Each slightly different from each other. On the first side of this box you will see a lightly imprinted realistically looking flower. Sitting on top of this flower design is a flying insect of pewter that is approximately ¼ inch in thickness and has sharp details. On the next side, there is a cold-blooded friend crafted in pewter caught in mid-crawl. The texture of this side is apparently helping this visitor climb up the box. Keeping with the theme of nature, the following side has a design of a leaf with a friend resting upon it. On the last side, again, a cold-blooded creature - perhaps a small, pewter lizard can be found resting.
