Tile Box with Celtic Knot Lid
Don Drumm is known for bringing the well-received, mid-century brutalist style into people’s homes and lives with everyday objects for decades. This pewter box is designed and hand-crafted by Don. You'll find Don's signature on the underside of each lid. Additionally, each of these boxes comes with a "Certificate of Authenticity" that Don personally signed.
This box is from the Celtic collection Don designed. The lid for this collection has an interlocking Celtic knot pattern in the center. Surrounding this knot, there is a thin circular border.
One specific design element you’ll find in each box is the interior base tile. In this pewter box, the interior, central, base consists of an abstract design with an oval and various lines. The first exterior side has a design of a triquetra. From a Christian perspective, this represents the “trinity.” For those with a pagan, Celtic tradition this design symbolizes the interconnectedness of the life cycle. On the second side, there is a design of a stylized, three-leaf clover. This side has the word “Beannachcai” which translates to “blessings.” The following side consists of a Celtic knot. And on the final side, the design is the Celtic phrase, “anam cara.” This translates to “soul friend.” In the context of this, one can also say that it represents more of a “compassionate presence” through one’s journey in spiritual growth.
